Emily’s Story

Thank you for being here-my name is Emily. I am the owner and creator behind Unchained Soul Designs.

I am 39 years old, I had to really think about that because let’s face it I loose track! Ha! And I’m pretty much from all over the US…that’s the Navy Wife life for ya. However I was born and raised in the Midwest-Iowa. {“Is this Heaven? No It’s Iowa!”} -Name that movie ;) It was filmed in Iowa.

I’m an introvert, believer, singer, musician, adventurer, dreamer, advocator, and beach hopper 🤙🏻

I am passionate about advocating for those who don’t have a voice or don’t know they’re can have a voice. To be the change I want to see, I have to be the change. This is where the story of my business name comes in.

I’ve battled with my mental health for 30 years now. Now that I am on the healing journey/recovery side of mental health and trauma, I’ve been able to unchain my soul from the weight of my past and all that I have faced. I’ve begun to free myself from these chains that held me down-kept me from living my life and reaching my fullest potential. (That is how I came up with the name Unchained Soul Designs). Making and designing some of these custom screen prints and keychains with my positive designs brings me such joy and helps me in so many ways. I love being creative and I hope that these products bring you joy as well.

While in the beginning phases of healing, I sold our dream home in TX (2021), packed all my kiddos and me up and moved us to the Pacific Ocean-to an island of Oahu to be united with our Chief, dad, and husband. Talk about getting out of your comfort zone…..away from loved ones. I can say with certainty that the Lord was preparing me for this and to be here in Hawai’i. That’s how we ended up on this little Island!

—-> Fast forward to Summer 2023, we left the beautiful land of Oahu as my husband would be retiring soon from the Navy. During this transition and getting everyone and everything settled, I sort of took a step back but had no intentions of giving up on this dream of mine. Life sure has been more hectic than I ever thought possible. Sarah’s episodes continue to come hard and severe still which takes priority when this occurs, as well as my family. Getting them all situated and making the most of where we are staying was important to me. Moving from HI to TX was overwhelming but we are glad to be on the mainland. We have now planted roots (I hope ;)) in Iowa...back to my roots.

I started Unchained Soul Designs as a way for me to support my family, and have another income coming in to help my husband. I wanted something for me to not only use my creativity but to also give me something to call my own. I feel that being in the right headspace, mentally and physically has allowed me to grow in so many ways I ever thought was possible.

Unchained Soul Designs, LLC’s focus is on Autism Acceptance and raising awareness for Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome AKA CVS. Our World Changer, SB, is 10 and is autistic and has battled with CVS for 4 years now. She’s the most severe case our whole team of docs have known. Of course I have a lot of autism products, and am currently designing some products for CVS as well. I plan on having products for the special needs community too like tubie covers, pads, adaptive clothing, sensory items etc. I have a lot to offer to everyone and I truly hope you love all that we offer.

These are just some insight as to what are experience is with CVS. We always end up admitted. It’s been traumatic for all of us.
Here we included everyone; special needs or not.
There will be something for everyone.

Your help, and support will:

  1. Raise money for a special needs bed for our daughter as she elopes!
  2. Help us raise more awareness for CVS by doing fun runs/walks to help us give money to the CVSA research to find a cure!
  3. Making care packages for local families who have little ones with CVS, money for meals (meals aren’t provided here at a local hospital if you aren’t a new mom) to help them through this rough time and to take the pressure off them. One less thing to worry about.
  4. Our goal and dream is to have NATION WIDE support where if a family is struggling with CVS, they can reach out to us and we can send out a care package to support them through their tough time.
  5. The rest will go to creating future designs to put on future products as we plan to see our business grow and expand.

Thank you so much for visiting Unchained Soul Designs. If you have any questions, please reach out to me via social media or through email in the CONTACT ME page.
